The castle is set in the grounds of a deer park
Carr Hall Castle is owned by Leeds' entrepreneurs Terry George and Michael Rothwell. It's situated in a secluded, wooded valley, adjacent to a deer park, a short drive away from the town of Halifax in Yorkshire. It was bought by Terry and Michael in 2002 after falling in love with it the minute they drove up the drive.

Terry and Michael spent the next 4 years toiling over the renovations, spending almost £1 million transforming it, with the interior designed by Ben Huckerby ( of Ben Huckerby Design). Ben says "I recommended taking the walls back to the original brickwork and creating an opulent look with deep colours, dark wood and highly textured fabrics."

The castle was the winner of Channel 5's I Own Britain's Best Home 2008. Voted for by the public, it beat off stiff competition from 26 other luxury homes around the UK, including a stately home and a converted water mill to win the coveted title. Apparently, even the binmen who collect the refuse from the castle voted for it!

How would you like to spend a long weekend or more in this luxurious retreat? Carr Hall Castle is now available to hire for a 3 nights weekend, or even longer if required. The castle sleeps up to 10 people in it's 5 double bedrooms, has 2 extra bathrooms, a large open plan entertainment area and dining, not forgetting the indoor swimming pool, gym and hot tub. Set in 9 acres of lush land, there's an outside courtyard with barbeque area and a lake with a rowing boat.
