yorkshire
Yorkshire is renowned for a number of things like flat caps and Yorkshire Puddings, so deciding on where to go in England’s biggest county is not an easy task at all. They don’t call Yorkshire God’s Own Country for nothing either with its rolling hills, rugged moors, lively cities and quaint little towns. For those that love exploring, there are some ‘proper Yorkshire’ places that will take your breath away.
picturesque views
There are some truly delightful views to be taken in and around the Castle and its surrounding areas. The Yorkshire Dales are home to some of the most picturesque views the country has to offer with some walks that include lovely attractions such as Aysgarth Falls and Ribblehead Viaduct. Why not stop for some famous Wensleydale Cheese or a pint of the Black Sheep bitter whilst you’re there?

whitby
Whitby is one of the best-loved traditional seaside towns in the North with its Blue Flag beaches and some of the best fish and chips around. It is probably best known for its history, culture, vampires, goths and as Captain Cook’s home. A winner of the Enjoy England award for ‘Best Day Out’ and just under two hours away from Carr Hall Castle, it is an excellent place to explore.

hill walks
The Yorkshire Dales are famous for some of the best walks and trails in the UK. Possibly, it’s best known challenging walk is the three peaks, consisting of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, totalling 24.5 miles. However, there are more gentle strolls such as the walk from Gordale Scar to Malham, which showcases the variety and beauty of the Dales.

lake district
Although a little further away, the Lake District is an area of outstanding beauty that is famous for England’s largest lakes and mountains, as well as its associations with the English Romantic Poet, William Wordsworth and children’s book author, Beatrix Potter. It is located around a 2-hour drive from Carr Hall Castle but makes for a great day out.
